Capsicum Day – The Nightshade Family

The Latin word for chili is capsicum [The original Mexican term, chilli came from the Nahuatl word chilli or xilli, referring to a huge Capsicum variety cultivated at least since 3000 BC as evidenced by remains found in pottery from Puebla and Oaxaca.]

I grow them on my balcony and today was harvest day! They are HOT!

Deborah Phillips “grows“ them in her recent 16 mm film called Capsicum, I haven’t seen it yet but I’m pretty curious – anyway she had a vernissage tonight presenting film stills, original 16 mm film stripes and red things to eat and drink in a beautiful small gallery & interior second hand shop called “Arm & Sexy / Poor & Sexy“. [Absolutely charming and genius: a china tableware collection “Betty Ford Clinic“ by Jones-Design. Whow!]
And Berlin-Neukölln grows hip. It’s slowly coming.
