Snowy Waldemar

Walking along Adalberstrasse direction Kottbusser Tor, from friend K to my home, I cross Waldemarstrasse and I suddenly remember the ancient Berlin winter smell: Kohleheizung! Briketts! Union and Rekord! Coal heating, 30 years ago was pretty common then, briquettes called Union and Rekord, one East one West as far as I remember … which was better? Forgot … I am sure we used the cheaper ones! I’ve lived here for so long, I love my Berlin.

Tempelhofer Feld Winter Black & White

Oooooh, I guess I made the most beautiful pinhole photo ever! Pure luck!
What is these grey irregularities in the sky? Is it finger prints? Dirt?
I am not sure … the piece of negative was in the Illy cam for some days before I actually exposed it. Maybe a change of warm and cold, maybe dust … I don’t care, it looks fantastic 😉

My First Comic Book

It’s here, fresh from the printers, it’s cool, I love to touch it, soft, good, strong paper, it has 138 pages plus cover, it is German from the front and if you turn it round it’s English!
I am deeply satisfied.
What is it all about?
This book has been private for over 20 years and now I think:
it has to go out into the world!
I drew it and gifted it to my brother for his 30th birthday, and of
course the story somehow coincides with both of us: he is Bero
the Brave and I am the big sister, La Dague who takes care of him!
That‘s the way it is.

First edition: 40 copies. You can buy it for 20 € / 25 $ directly from me. Only 22 left. I should consider having another 100 printed 😉

Here’s a little film: XX

Gabionen Des Grauens / Gabions From Hell

A gabion (from Italian gabbione meaning „big cage“) is a cage, cylinder or box filled with rocks.
Its hipness is already fading but these gabion fences used to be the hot thing around German front gardens!

Here is something from a deeper part of hell: A FAKE GABION! It is a photo of gabion rocks, printed large scale on plastic fabric and then woven in a sort of wire fence. I am deeply amazed!!!

Zooming Between Göteborg And Berlin

Hej hej, this was my first zoom workshop!!! 7 women artists in Göteborg at beloved Konstepidemin – a cool art space with lots of good things happening!

Konstepidemin är ett ateljéområde vid Linnéplatsen i Göteborg som utgör en unik arbetsplats för 130 konstnärer från en bredd av konstområden, en plattform för konstnärliga projekt samt en mötesplats för konstnärer och publik.

(Remember? I was there the first time this year in March, having a filmshow, meeting Maria and Fredrik and Johanna (for the first time, the latter. She organized this workshop now!!).
What can you expect from me? All eco of course – we called this workshop “Ecoberry Film Soups” and I tried to beam my enthusiasm and knowledge and recipes up North while they developed their black&white super 8 films that they shot shortly before in: coffee, tree bark tea, beetroot juice and curcuma soup!!!
We are going to digitize all films later, they will edit them this winter and then next year in January they are going to be exhibited in Göteborg at some gallery. More infos later!!!

Max Is Cool

Isn’t it amazing what a small flat simple peppermint tin box can create?
I just put a piece of paper in, stuck the box to my tripod, placed it in front of my window and opened the lid (the one on the little hole) to expose it about 20 minutes to the dim afternoon sunlight that fell in.
Then later developed it in coffee, scanned and inverted it … et voilà!!

A Spoonful Of Help

Hey, this is for all analog eco film and photo developers who love caffenol!
If you ever lose your scales, there is help on it’s way, a little unprecise though but quite useful!
You just need two different sized spoons: Teelöffel und Esslöffel / tea spoon and table spoon. Forget about dessert spoon or serving spoon, no need for these. You don’t have them anyway.
And if in the end you have 23 instead of 27 or 11 instead of 8 grams? It doesn’t matter that much: caffenol is forgiving!
