My First Comic Book

It’s here, fresh from the printers, it’s cool, I love to touch it, soft, good, strong paper, it has 138 pages plus cover, it is German from the front and if you turn it round it’s English!
I am deeply satisfied.
What is it all about?
This book has been private for over 20 years and now I think:
it has to go out into the world!
I drew it and gifted it to my brother for his 30th birthday, and of
course the story somehow coincides with both of us: he is Bero
the Brave and I am the big sister, La Dague who takes care of him!
That‘s the way it is.

First edition: 40 copies. You can buy it for 20 € / 25 $ directly from me. Only 22 left. I should consider having another 100 printed 😉

Here’s a little film: XX

Gabionen Des Grauens / Gabions From Hell

A gabion (from Italian gabbione meaning „big cage“) is a cage, cylinder or box filled with rocks.
Its hipness is already fading but these gabion fences used to be the hot thing around German front gardens!

Here is something from a deeper part of hell: A FAKE GABION! It is a photo of gabion rocks, printed large scale on plastic fabric and then woven in a sort of wire fence. I am deeply amazed!!!

Zooming Between Göteborg And Berlin

Hej hej, this was my first zoom workshop!!! 7 women artists in Göteborg at beloved Konstepidemin – a cool art space with lots of good things happening!

Konstepidemin är ett ateljéområde vid Linnéplatsen i Göteborg som utgör en unik arbetsplats för 130 konstnärer från en bredd av konstområden, en plattform för konstnärliga projekt samt en mötesplats för konstnärer och publik.

(Remember? I was there the first time this year in March, having a filmshow, meeting Maria and Fredrik and Johanna (for the first time, the latter. She organized this workshop now!!).
What can you expect from me? All eco of course – we called this workshop “Ecoberry Film Soups” and I tried to beam my enthusiasm and knowledge and recipes up North while they developed their black&white super 8 films that they shot shortly before in: coffee, tree bark tea, beetroot juice and curcuma soup!!!
We are going to digitize all films later, they will edit them this winter and then next year in January they are going to be exhibited in Göteborg at some gallery. More infos later!!!

Max Is Cool

Isn’t it amazing what a small flat simple peppermint tin box can create?
I just put a piece of paper in, stuck the box to my tripod, placed it in front of my window and opened the lid (the one on the little hole) to expose it about 20 minutes to the dim afternoon sunlight that fell in.
Then later developed it in coffee, scanned and inverted it … et voilà!!

A Spoonful Of Help

Hey, this is for all analog eco film and photo developers who love caffenol!
If you ever lose your scales, there is help on it’s way, a little unprecise though but quite useful!
You just need two different sized spoons: Teelöffel und Esslöffel / tea spoon and table spoon. Forget about dessert spoon or serving spoon, no need for these. You don’t have them anyway.
And if in the end you have 23 instead of 27 or 11 instead of 8 grams? It doesn’t matter that much: caffenol is forgiving!

Playing With Anthotypes

I’m harvesting the latest anthotypes. The sun is getting weaker and steeper day by day, the antho season will soon be over.
One is a photogram: I placed Ritterporn / Delphinium (what a beautiful name!!) leaves on a spinach juice brushed paper.
The other one is a photo negative on red cabbage. Red cabbage makes a blue colour. It changed weirdly while bleaching over several weeks …
Just for fun I inverted them (photoshoply) to see how the opposite colour would be … and a mighty Wow! escaped my grinning mouth! 😀

Photo Shnipsel

What is a Schnipsel? Something abgeschnipselt … some cut off, some snip snap snup snippet!

I do the Schnipsel when I cut photo paper to the size I need and then the snippet remains. Lingers there … and drops of developer, of caffenol, of fixer, of eco soup drip drop on it. Make patterns and pictures. I could use them as analog bookmarks!
Wanna have one?

The Goldmarie Sunflower Field

This summer the Goldmarie (favourite bar / café of mine) and neighbours have sown a wildflower lawn! All summer long it was buzzing with bees and butterflies, blooming in all colours. Now it’s sunflower time.
I took a pinhole photo with my 3 favourite supersmall cameras. One turned out ok!

(Fuji, 200 ASA, exposure time 1/2 second, developed in C41)

Anthotypes On Giebichstein

What is a Giebichstein??
It’s an art school in Halle at river Saale in middle-east Germany.
I was invited there to give a short anthotypes workshop! Big room, not too many students not too close, all careful and … once I spread my enthusiasm: infected!!! By my enthusiasm ;-), by love for colours, for nature, veggie, flowers, experiments, squeezing vegetables, painting wildly … it was pure fun and inspiration!!
