… somebody threw away … and I like it.

unterwegs in Sachen Film >>> <<< on the road making films!
… somebody threw away … and I like it.

This is me in my working room.
Pinhole photo, Illy camera, FOMA sheet film, 100 ASA, exposure time 50 seconds. Negative developed in Caffenol.

“Country Baby”: Silke on the countryside in the middle of flowers explaining the dangers of Wühlmäuse / voles and the pleasure of taking a break in the hammock.
Thanks to the Filmuniversität Potsdam-Babelsberg (and Benjamin who is writing his master about my films!!) … I have a few more freshly scanned films now online!! The old forgotten ones …

“Unfelle und Nachladen”: untranslatable German, partly nonsense, playing with words and letters.

3 days at my friends‘ at the sea, lucky me! Winter says goodbye though the wind is still pretty chilly … but the sun has power! Spring is coming!!

Recently I had the opportunity to have several of my old almost forgotten super 8 films scanned! Very hi res and for free as part of a film studies research project. The sound is bad, taken from the ridiculously slim magnetic tape on the film … I will have to re-edit it.
Here comes the first film, a little poem in 2 words called “ABE”, from 1989 … click here!!

Winter. Staying home. Browsing in old film stills. Finding green roses.

I’m browsing through old workshop films … There will be a little exhibition at Dresden Schmalfilmtage / Small Format Days in March and they are celebrating 60 years of super 8 hoorayyy!!! Showing a variety of films including some of my workshop group films (I gave 2-days-workshops at their festival in 5 consecutive years from 2009).
Some snippets here!

The German version here!
Me pro on YouTube:
I would never have thought that there are still so many Kodachrome Super 8 films circulating in the world – even 35mm films – but they do! And I can develop them! Black and white negative. Unfortunately, colour is no longer possible, only Kodak could do that, and since the last lab closed more than 10 years ago, only black and white is possible.
I am Dagie Brundert, a one-woman lab in Berlin, Germany, and I can do it.
It costs 39 euros to develop a Super 8 cassette, with a discount for several. 35mm half price. In Germany plus VAT, otherwise not. Plus postage.
I’m the only one in the world who offers this service with Caffenol, an ecological coffee-based developer. Cheers!

I wave hello from the train driving me home from Stuttgart! 4 days film festival, the one and only FILMWINTER! No workshop this time for me, I had just one short film in the competition program, so it was like a mini holiday for me.
I did a kind of marathon film watching … and it felt like … an underlying subject, a subconscious commonality: pulsating nature, forces of nature, clattering stones and bubbling cells. I explain it to me: we as humans have come so far that we’re standing at the rim of the abyss, it’s going downhill with humanity or … not. It’s a decision, it’s a Rutschpartie / slide tour. Artists feel this.
PS: the catering was fantastic! Spätzle special and Laugenstangen with Nutella! Thank you!
A dream come true: someone gave me Kodak socks!!!

I must say I’m in love with these glass negatives … and the wacky emulsion. This is a photo I took from my neighbour’s balcony … in the foreground this wishiwashy stuff is moving grass … the exposure time was 10 seconds (a bit too long, the negative has turned out very dense and dark …)

Hello balcony, hello fresh new year!

… with a very expired Ilford glass plate inside!

More!!
(my favourite is the first one!!!)

Unbeatable fun to see 50 year old slides!! Was it me? A different layer of me?

It was so still and calm … no wind at all, the sea lying there like a mirror!
Happy xmas to all!

Hello everyone, especially those readers who are not yet supporting me financially, but are perhaps considering it … this is for you:

I love stations! The coffee is not that bad any more as it used to be … double price, heißer Scheiß!
Happy travelling!

This is my actual favourite pinhole photo!
I cooked a juice (made from my birthday dinner ingredients or rather the remains …) and turned it into a yummy smelling developer!

I think I mentioned it before … many of the classic and toxic developers end with -ol (Dokumol, Neutol …), and the first eco developer was named Caffenol. I give names to mostly all my new developers … this time me and my students explored the power of … Bolzanol!

A fruity North Italian mix made from local fruit like apples, mandarines and pomegranates … and many more.
I know that all citrus fruits work well as developer, all colourful and aromatic fruits in general. They all contain a lot of phenols.
The result of the film was a bit lower in contrast compared to a Caffenol developed film, softer and more grey tones. Beautiful!
We’ll have the films digitized in December, I will for sure show you some results!

Online webinars from January 2025 regularly (if I can manage it) every last Sunday of the month, starting in January 2025.
“We love Super 8 / we are at the very beginning and don’t know much / we are in the middle and are enchanted / we want to know everything about Caffenol and ecological developing, cameras and film stock / we have experience and specific questions … let’s connect!
We meet every last Sunday of the month! On the ZOHO platform, which is similar to ZOOM. I moderate and tell and show tricks and film examples … you have the opportunity to bring in your own topic / problem / question. It’s something like a virtual mini workshop, a webinar in a small group, with personalised advice and assistance.
The entrance fee is 30 € / $ via PayPal, you will be emailed an access code. You can register your topic / problem / special interest in advance.
Time: Europe 19:00, USA around noon, but this can be flexible if someone from other regions of the world wants to participate. The duration will be 1 hour, probably longer. Language: English.
Let’s flicker!”
A Flock Of Flickers #1 will take place on 26 January 2025!
This car! Is it still in use? I don’t know, but I see it standing on different spots … but always around the Zickenplatz / Bitch or Goat Place … Zicke has both meanings!

Ah yes, I was sitting in / outside the Café Zazza when I took this photo. Zazza, I like you and your glorious coffee!
